Operational Settings
Operational settings control how SonicSaaS interacts with your managed firewalls — polling frequency, concurrency limits, timeouts, and other parameters that affect fleet operations.
What You Can Configure
- Poll intervals — how often the platform checks device status and pulls configuration data
- Concurrency limits — how many devices can be operated on simultaneously during fleet operations
- Connection timeouts — how long to wait for a device to respond before marking it unreachable
- Operation defaults — default settings for backup, firmware, and other fleet operations
Team-Overridable Settings
Operational settings use a layered configuration model. The platform provides sensible defaults, but your team can override them to match your environment:
- Platform defaults — conservative settings suitable for most deployments
- Team overrides — your customized values that take precedence
Tuning Recommendations
Poll Intervals
- More frequent polling gives you fresher data and faster change detection, but increases load on your devices and network
- Less frequent polling reduces load but means changes take longer to appear in the platform
Concurrency
- Higher concurrency completes fleet operations faster but may overwhelm devices or network
- Lower concurrency is safer for large fleets or devices on slower connections
Timeouts
- Increase timeouts if you manage devices on slow or high-latency connections
- The default timeouts work well for LAN-connected devices
