Local Users Overview
The local users section gives you fleet-wide visibility into local user accounts on your managed firewalls. This is critical for security compliance — unauthorized local accounts are a common audit finding.
Why Local User Management Matters
Every SonicWall firewall has local user accounts that can be used to access the management interface. Without centralized visibility, it’s easy for:
- Unauthorized accounts to be created and go unnoticed
- Former employee accounts to remain active
- MFA to be inconsistently applied across devices
- Admin accounts to use weak or shared passwords
SonicSaaS solves this by pulling local user data from every device and presenting it in a unified view.
What You Can See
- User inventory — all local accounts across your fleet
- Compliance status — which accounts meet your standards and which don’t
- MFA coverage — which accounts have MFA enabled
- Unauthorized accounts — accounts that don’t match your approved user list
Taking Action
From the local users dashboard, you can:
- Review accounts flagged as unauthorized
- Check MFA enrollment status across your fleet
- Navigate to individual devices to manage their local accounts
- Define approved user lists to automate compliance checking
